IN PI
The piece ‘In C’ composed by Terry Riley in 1964 is one of the most important and pioneering works of minimal music. ‘In Pi’ is an interpretation of this composition.
While in Riley’s original version the musicians decide how to progress through the score, each performance of ‘In Pi’ is similarly generative, as a convolutional neural network decides when each of the voices moves on to the next piece of notation and its respective visual counterpart.
All voices and their dynamics have a direct and individual influence on the generation of imagery and thus create a unique audiovisual experience with each performance.
